TLDR; passionate writer with interest or experience in politics and tech to help the CEO develop content for their Substack newsletter

OpenAxis is developing a community of data explorers and storytellers. By providing simple tools to easily share, visualize, and collaborate with data to tell stories, data-driven content creators are leveraging the platform to build their brand and audience. In tandem, the CEO, a political economist and former National Policy Director for Andrew Yang’s 2020 presidential campaign, will begin doing the same.

He is looking for a writer to work closely with him to develop periodic blog posts for their Substack newsletter on current events within politics, foreign policy, and tech.

OpenAxis: Mission

OpenAxis (Techstars ‘21) is a venture-backed startup simplifying and democratizing data storytelling. It is a platform where anyone can easily share and visualize data to tell stories.

We believe that by equipping people with transparent data and simple tools, communities will crowdsource insights and come to their own data-informed conclusions on topics that matter.

As we build a community of data explorers and storytellers, we will engender a culture of data literacy and transparency.

Responsibilities:

• Research and identify salient topics for weekly blog posts (technical documentation, how-to pieces)
• Draft weekly newsletter blog posts closely with the CEO
• Help with content marketing across social media channels

The Ideal Candidate has:

• Interest and experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on salient topics in the media, including but not limited to politics, economics, policy, media, tech etc.
• Strong media diet
• Content marketing and or writing experience
• Interest in writing and producing data driven content (i.e., telling stories with data)
• Good time management skills in a fast paced startup environment
• Enthusiasm and wit
